The Advancing Education in Muslim Societies (AEMS) initiative of IIIT is launching its new teacher training program this coming December 2018. The program is designed as a three-part course in Winter, Spring, and Summer. The course takes the social and emotional learning (SEL) aspects to practical levels in ways that empowers teachers working with Muslim learners to include SEL in their classrooms. Teachers and school personnel will explore processes underlying SEL in k-12 school settings and design multilevel and evidence-based instructional plans. Topics may include and not limited to teaching empathy, community mindedness, resilience and forgiveness.
