Islam and Futures Literacy Workshop
A three-day ‘Islam and Futures Literacy Workshop’, organised by IIIT and CPPFS in cooperation with MAHYA and Future Global Science, was held virtually through ZOOM from 19-21 March, 2021. The workshop hosted 15 new participants from seven different countries, in addition to former workshop attendees.
The group was introduced to basics of Futures studies including concepts, terminology and various methods. The participants formed groups to work on four contemporary issues: Water, Health, Education and Migration. Trends, emerging issues and Scenarios were worked out successfully by the groups and the Workshop concluded with a Visioning exercise in which preferred futures were envisioned.
Equipped with an understanding of methods and approaches to exploring futures, many of the participants expressed their wish to use what they had learned in their diverse disciplines and areas they are working in.
