ISLAMIC LEGAL METHODOLOGY: A NEW PERSPECTIVE ON UŞŬL AL-FIQH
We are delighted to announce the publication of ‘Islamic Legal Methodology: A New Perspective On Uşŭl Al-Fiqh’ authored by Ahmad Kazemi-Moussavi and Hamid Mavani. This book discusses the historical development of legal methodology in interpreting Shariah and analyzes proposed reforms by modern Muslim scholars.
As Seyyed Hossein Nasr, University Professor of Islamic Studies at the George Washington University, Washington D.C., USA, asserts, the author has provided “a scholarly and Islamically authentic manner” in dealing with the main theses of usul al-fiqh. Furthermore, according to Mohsen Kadivar, Visiting Professor of Islamic Studies at Duke University, USA, the author has expanded the border of legal methodology to include hermeneutics. Mohammad Hashim Kamali, Founding Chairman & CEO of the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) Malaysia, describes the work as an “insightful narrative” that is “eminently suitable for a university textbook on the subject.”
