We spent two years surveying youth and educators around the world about their attitudes and views on a range of values and competencies important for wellbeing and bettering societies. It is time to give back to our participants and their communities in the various regions of the globe.
This project by the Advancing Education in Muslim Societies (AEMS) initiative, is a video competition to support youth (ages 15-25). Make a 1-3 minute video demonstrating your commitment to community and/or discussing what community means to you. We encourage you to be creative and think outside the box. Some ideas of possible videos are:
This campaign is competitive and the videos will be evaluated by a committee of three judges. The criterion for selection include creativity, originality, locally grounded, and high-quality product. The winners will be highlighted on social media and on IIITs website.

Creativity and Originality – Is this your own work and does it reflect research you have done on the community topic? Does it present high imagination?
Clarity of Message – Is it clear what you are talking about?
Local Focus – Is the video about members or issues in your local community?
Inclusivity – Did you include different types of people (age, gender, etc.)?
Production Quality – Is it within the 1–3-minute requirement and is the audio/video clear and well edited?

Anyone under the age of 25 is eligible to participate
Yes! But you are only eligible for one prize

Winners will be contacted by the AEMS team and prizes will be distributed by our regional offices
Don’t panic! All videos go through a moderation process before they can appear on the entry-browsing page on our site. It may take a week or longer for your video to appear in the entry-browsing tool, even if it meets all the contest requirements. On the other hand, if we determine that an entry breaks one of the contest rules, it will be excluded from the site.
No! Submissions are welcome from anyone. The only requirements are that you live in one of our partner regions and that you are under the age of 25.

No. Submissions are due during Ramadan and this may be a time when people are reflecting about themselves and their role in their community, but the videos do not have to be about Ramadan or really any aspect of religion or religious life.
No, you do not need to have a public YouTube channel but you do need to have a YouTube account in order to submit your video. This is to make sure that all of the submissions come in a format that our judges can watch. If you don’t want to post your video to the public, you can upload the video as “unlisted” with a private link. Of course, if you want to upload your video publicly, that is fine too!
