About IIIT Scholar – AI Search
IIIT Scholar – AI Search is an intelligent research interface purpose-built for the needs of Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies. Drawing upon IIIT’s extensive digitized corpus—comprising over 100,000 books, journals, and manuscripts—the system integrates advanced artificial intelligence methodologies, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), to deliver precise, credible, and contextually grounded insights. Each response is carefully anchored in, and traceable to, its original source, ensuring a standard of academic rigor essential for scholarly work.
Distinct from general-purpose AI search tools, IIIT Scholar prioritizes IIIT’s curated resources as its primary knowledge base. When a user submits a query, the system first consults this authoritative collection—encompassing the full range of IIIT publications, including books and journals—before expanding beyond it. If relevant material is found within the IIIT corpus, results are presented in a conversational format that synthesizes key insights while maintaining clear source attribution. In cases where the internal collection does not yield sufficient information, the system broadens its search scope to external, reputable sources, accompanied by a transparent indication that the response extends beyond IIIT’s domain.
More than a conventional search tool, IIIT Scholar represents an emerging model of accountable, source-based AI research. Developed with deliberation and scholarly integrity, the platform remains in active evolution, with ongoing efforts to expand its corpus through the inclusion of additional trusted collections.
