Pakistani Delegation from ITMD Visits IIIT

Dr. Jamal and some of the Pakistani delegationA delegation from Pakistan’s “Ittihad Tanzeemat Madaris Deenia (ITMD)” visited IIIT on Friday June 29, 2007. The delegation was invited to the US by the Department of State as part of the “Islamic Education in the US”, a component of the Department’s Visitor Leadership Program.

The delegation included Honorable Vakil Ahmad Khan - Secretary of Religious Affairs in the Government of Pakistan, Qari Muhammad Hanif Jalandhry -Member, Central Council, Ittihad Tanzeemat Madaris Deenia, Maulana Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman -President, Tanzeemul Madaris, Maulana Niaz Hussain Naqbi -Jamia Al-Muntazir, Lahore, Pakistan, Dr. Ata ur Rehman -Member, National Assembly, Rabitatul Madaris Islamia.

Dr. Abubaker Al-Shingieti, Regional Director - IIIT welcomed the guests and introduced the executives and staff. He was followed by Dr. Jamal Barzinji, Vice President – IIIT, who introduced IIIT, its mission, history, current activities, and future plans. Afterwards, the head of the Pakistani delegation briefed the attendees on the purpose and mission of establishing the “Itihad Tanzimat Madaris Dinia”. A brief presentation on “Islamic Education in the US” was given by Dr. Iqbal Unus –Director of the Educational Division of IIIT (the Fairfax Institute).Members of the Pakistani delegation

A question and answer session followed, during which ideas and views were exchanged and informative points were brought into the discussion. Following lunch, the group went to the ADAMS Center for Jumua’a salat, which was followed by a session on the Center’s education and other program. After being presented with gifts from Dr. Douglas Johnston –President of ICRD, the group departed to the airport to continue their U.S. visit.
