 Shaikh Muhammad al-Tahir Ibn Ashur is the most renowned Zaytuna Imam and one of the great Islamic scholars of the 20th century. In this book, Ibn Ahsur proposed Maqasid as a methodology for the renewal of the theory of Islamic law, which has not undergone any serious development since the era of the great imams. IIIT Council of Scholars Concludes First Meeting in South Africa

The Council of Scholars of International Institute of Islamic Thought concluded its first meeting in Cape Town, South Africa on January 22, 2008. About twenty scholars, board members and directors of IIIT offices and affiliate organizations participated in the three-day meeting which was chaired by Dr. AbdulHamid AbuSulayman, President of IIIT. The discussions included the advisory role of the Council of Scholars in planning IIIT research agenda and reviewing its work beside the evaluation of the experience of IIIT in the past 25 years, the lessons learned and directions for the future.
