This month saw the launch of a report authored by a theologically diverse group of leading British Muslims entitled "Contextualising Islam in Britain". The scholars and practitioners who contributed to the report, published by Cambridge University, sought to answer a deceptively simple question: What does it mean to live faithfully as a Muslim in Britain today? Islamic Thought: An Approach to Reform and Crisis in Contemporary Thought, two books by Dr. Taha Jabir Alwani, have been translated into Azari.

Dr. Taha Jabir Al-Alwani is a graduate of Al-Azhar University, Cairo. He authored numerous works including: Source Methodology in Islamic Jurisprudence; Towards a Fiqh for Minorities; The Ethics of Disagreement in Islam; and The Qur'an and the Sunnah: The Time-Space Factor.

Two new publications on Islam-West Relations have been released. The first book, Citizenship, Security and Democracy: Muslim Engagement with the West, is a selection of papers  from the conference held on September 1-3, 2006, organized b y the Association of Muslim Social Scientists (AMSS UK) and the Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA). The second book, Muslims and the West: Encounter and Dialogue, published by Legacy International, is also a collection of 12 selected papers from the seminar held in Islamabad in October 1997 under the auspices of the International Islamic University, Islamabad and the Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, Georgetown University, Washington, D.C.
