Summer Internship Program 2009
(July 6 – August 14)
The International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) is pleased to announce its Summer Internship Program for 2009 which will run for six weeks between July 6 and August 14, 2009. The program is designed for senior undergraduate and graduate students who are majoring in the humanities or social science disciplines and who have a particular interest in developing their knowledge and research skills in the areas such as research methods for Islamic studies, Quran and Hadith, Fiqh, comparative religion, Islamic reform movement and Islamic History and Civilization. Also, the program provides on-hands training in areas such as Organization and Leadership, Non-Profit Management, Publication and Marketing, Islamic Finance, Investment and Budgeting, and Information Technology. In addition, the program dedicates a full week for learning about Islam and Muslims in the United States. This will include field visits, briefings and lectures by community leaders and experts on the subject.
During the course of the program, students would complete a total of 200 hours of directed research, hands-on training, instruction and administrative work at IIIT and would receive a certificate of completion from IIIT.
Accommodation within the Herndon/Reston area will be provided by IIIT, if needed. In addition, IIIT will provide each student a scholarship of $1,200 to cover their living and other expenses and to be paid in installments of $400 every other week.
Students should have their own health insurance coverage. IIIT does not provide health – or any other form of insurance- to students.
